Passive Fire Proofing
Protecting Lives Through Certified Passive Fire Protection Solutions, Engineered for Safer, Compliant Buildings

At Fire-Ex, we are a trusted supplier, distributor, and installer of passive fire protection systems, committed to safeguarding lives, assets, and infrastructure.
Our solutions are 100% tested and approved in accordance with SANS 10400-T and SANS 10177-2, ensuring full compliance with South African regulatory requirements.
We design and implement systems that meet the three critical principles of passive fire protection (See Below) - providing reliable containment of fire and preventing its spread within buildings.

Fire Seals

Structural Steel Fire Protection
pecially designed materials used to seal gaps, joints, and openings in walls, floors, and ceilings to prevent the spread of fire, smoke, and toxic gases. They are a key part of passive fire protection, helping maintain a building’s fire resistance rating and ensuring compliance with standards like SANS 10400-T.
Involves applying fire-resistant materials (such as intumescent coatings, fire boards, or sprays) to steel structures to prevent weakening or collapse during a fire. These systems insulate the steel, maintain its load-bearing capacity, and ensure compliance with fire safety standards like SANS 10400-T.

Cable Coarting
Is the application of fire-resistant (intumescent) coatings to electrical cables to reduce flame spread and limit smoke generation during a fire. It helps protect critical systems, maintains circuit integrity for longer periods, and ensures compliance with fire safety standards such as SANS 10400-T.

Vermiculite Plaster Fire Protection
Is a lightweight, fire-resistant coating made from vermiculite aggregate applied to structural elements like steel and concrete. It provides thermal insulation during a fire, slowing heat transfer and helping maintain the structure’s stability and fire rating in line with standards such as SANS 10400-T.

Calcium Silicate Fire Walls
Non-combustible partition systems made from calcium silicate boards, designed to provide high fire resistance (typically 60–120 minutes). They are used to compartmentalise buildings, preventing the spread of fire and smoke while maintaining structural integrity and compliance with standards such as SANS 10400-T and SANS 10177-2.

Fire protection for LPG tanks
Involves applying vermiculite plaster systems such as Tekrok C to shield the tank from extreme heat, reducing the risk of rupture or explosion and ensuring compliance with fire safety standards.
